Hope Gardens

"Hope Gardens (formerly The Rhema Partnership) is a Christian charity that passionately works alongside the local Indian people to sustainably combat rural poverty in Southern India" Rev Richard Lloyd (Chairman)

St James' church supports three Bible college students each year.

Hope reflects the life transformation that our projects bring to so many of the neediest communities in South India. It also reflects the lasting hope that we have in the person and the life of Jesus Christ

Gardens connects directly with the place where our projects are based, the beautiful Rhema Gardens, a 10 acre oasis outside the town of Cumbum, Tamil Nadu.

Hope Gardens works with their Indian partners, lead by Archbishop Samuel Gnanaprahasam, focusing on three areas to efficiently reach out to those most in need in rural Southern India.

Hope for Children: The programme incorporates; a child sponsorship programme - caring for the welfare and educational of those most in need, a hostel for orphaned and semi orphaned children, a School for Children with Disabilities and feeding programmes providing afterschool care for 150 children daily who would otherwise be left on the streets.

Hope for Communities: Hope Gardens has been caring at the heart of rural communities for 15 years through a network of church plants. There are 30 churches where Pastors are reaching out to the poor providing pastoral and practical support. This church plant programme is supported by The Rhema Bible College where our graduates either return to their home communities or serve locally alongside our pastors. Our focus for these rural communities is to empower locals to take responsibility for setting up and running Local Enterprise schemes which enable those with little or no income to gain much needed skills and improve their earning potential

Hope for Health: Our medical centre treats 10,000 patients per year with primary health care. in addition we have a mobile medical unit which reaches out to the surrounding villages treating those most in need. We have the funds in place to extend our medical centre and in 2019 we hope to build our maternity unit. This will incorporate a natural birthing facility, operating theatre and also provide much needed pre and postnatal care and counselling.
